Disruptions to bin collections

Occasionally, bin collections are missed for a variety of reasons including weather conditions, road closures, or vehicles being in for maintenance and repair.

What to do if we missed your bin

If your bin was missed please leave it out in the first instance. 

If the missed collection is listed on this page, you don't need to report it. If it isn't listed, before reporting a missed bin please make sure that: 

  • You presented your bin by 7am
  • The bin was not collected by 4.45pm
  • The bin was not tagged

If you find yourself accumulating additional household recycling and waste, please remember you can take it to a recycling centre.

When we will collect

Where we don't otherwise indicate on this page, if we don't collect your bin within five days, we will collect excess on the next scheduled collection day for that same bin, unless it was originally tagged or not presented.

Recently missed bins

6th May 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins near the C86M Lost bridge to U90M between Torrancroy, AB36 8UJ and Glenbuchat Lodge, AB36 8UB - Strathdon. This is due to a road closure, we will return when access resumes.

5th May 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins bins from the following areas, we will return by Friday, 8th May:

  • Folla Rule
  • Meikle Wartle

4th May 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins and trade refuse bins from Ellon. We will try to return by Friday, 8th May. 

28th April 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins from the following areas, we will try to return on Friday, 1st May:

  • Balhalgardy
  • Daviot to Loanhead
  • Drum of Wartle
  • Fingask
  • Hillhead of Lethenty
  • Kirkton of Rayne
  • Lumphart
  • North Rayne
  • Whitemyres

We weren't able to collect trade cardboard and paper recycling from the following areas, we will try to return on Friday, 1st May:

  • Chapel of Garioch
  • Huntly
  • Insch
  • Oldmeldrum
  • Oyne
  • Rhynie

23rd April 2026

We weren't able to collect household bins from these streets in Aboyne, we hope to come back the next day:

  • Court Drive
  • Linklater Crescent
  • St Machar Avenue
  • St Machar Drive
  • St Machar Park
  • St Machar Place

We weren't able to collect trade glass from these areas, we hope to come back on Monday 27th April unless stated otherwise below:

  • Balmedie
  • Collieston
  • Newburgh
  • Westhill, we hope to come back on Tuesdayc, 28th April
